  Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are the differences between Season and Off-Season?

    • Off-Season is from August 28 - June 21. During that time there will be no gate fees or parking fees and you can drive right down to the St. Elmo Spa.

  2. Where do I park?

    • You can park across the street in the public parking lot for a small fee from June 25th - August 28th 2022.  

  3. How do I get into the Chautauqua Institution?

    • After you reserve your free 'Destination' pass for the timeframe(s) of your appointments, go through the main gate.

  4. Do I have to pay the gate fee?

    • No.  You can reserve your free 'Destination Pass' online or in person ($5 fee applies for in-person).  Go to, 'Event & Day Passes' from the top horizontal menu, 'Destination Pass'.  Click "Buy" for the date you need, enter the number of passes needed for each timeframe depending on your appointment time(s), then continue until you can print/email your pass.  **You need your gate pass to enter and exit the grounds.

  5. Where are you located in the institution?

    • When you enter the grounds, follow the brick path, and it will bring you to the side entrance of the St. Elmo building. We are located on the lower level.  See the map here.

  6. What types of payments are accepted?

    • We accept all payments: cash, credit, debit, check, and gift certificates.

  7. Do I have to fill out paperwork when I get there?

    • Electronic forms will be sent to your phone and/or email.  It is imperative to complete these forms before your appointment.  Please update us with any health changes.

  8. When should I arrive for my appointment?

    • Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early.

  9. Can I bring my own refreshments:

    • Yes. We will also have coffee, tea, water, and occasional wine events. Alcoholic beverages are permitted at the spa, but we insist that you drink responsibly.​

  10. Is there a bottle fee if I bring my own alcohol?

    • There is no bottle fee.

  11. Can I bring lunch?

    • Yes, if you are hosting an event at the spa you may bring a light lunch.

  12. What is your cancellation policy?

    • You must give us 24 hour notice or you will be charged 100% of your scheduled service(s).​
